The Australian sun is no joke. While Queensland’s warm climate and endless sunshine are part of its charm, they also pose a significant health risk. Skin cancer rates are among the highest in the world, and sun safety isn’t just about comfort. It’s about protection. Queensland Health wanted to drive home the importance of sun safety with a campaign that would cut through the noise and stick with people. That’s where we came in.
The challenge wasn’t just to remind Queenslanders to slip, slop, slap, it was to make sun safety feel urgent, relevant, and actionable. A forgettable PSA wouldn’t be enough. We needed to create an engaging video that would grab attention, resonate emotionally, and drive real behavioural change. Our approach blended live-action footage with motion graphics to create an informative yet visually striking piece.

Rather than simply listing sun safety tips, we built a narrative around real-life moments: a family at the beach, kids playing at the park, workers outdoors. By showcasing relatable scenarios, we demonstrated how easy it is to overlook sun safety and the simple steps that can make all the difference. This story-driven approach turned a health message into something personal, practical, and memorable.

To reinforce the campaign’s accessibility and impact, we crafted a dynamic blend of live-action and motion graphics featuring:
✔ Bright, natural cinematography to capture Queensland’s outdoor lifestyle
✔ Bold, animated overlays highlighting key sun safety tips
✔ Seamless transitions between scenes to maintain engagement
✔ A warm, friendly colour palette to balance urgency with positivity
This hybrid approach ensured the video was both visually compelling and easy to digest, making sun safety an everyday habit, not just a seasonal reminder.

To maximise effectiveness, we fine-tuned the video by:
✔ Adjusting pacing to keep it snappy and impactful
✔ Refining motion graphics for clarity and emphasis
✔ Testing different messaging tones to strike the right balance of urgency and encouragement
✔ Ensuring accessibility through clear visuals and easy-to-understand language
Every decision was made to ensure Queenslanders would not only watch the video but remember and act on its message.

The final video became a key asset in Queensland Health’s larger sun safety campaign, rolling out across social media, digital advertising, and outdoor screens. As part of a suite of educational materials, it played a crucial role in reinforcing sun protection habits. By combining live action with engaging motion design, we delivered a campaign that not only informed but inspired change.
And if you’re still reading this don’t forget your sunscreen.
